Supported Languages

DialABC offers you a choice of dictionaries to use for the search. Currently, we have many different dictionaries to choose from, including:

Extended American and British English DialABC uses a public online English dictionary of approximately 115000 words. This dictionary also contains most common English names and contractions such as "I'd" or "don't". It also contains...
  • top level internet domain names (eg: "az", "at", "de"... etc)
  • assorted net lingo
  • US State two letter codes as used by the US Postal service (eg: "NY", "MN")
  • a number of TLAs (eg: "CBS", "AT&T")
  • some company and product names
Dutch 125000 of the most common words and names in the Dutch language (including plurals etc)
German 135000 of the most common (and shortest!) words and names in the German language.

We also offer word searches for Afrikaans, Catalan, Danish, French, Gaelic, Italian, Portugese, and Spanish. We are planning to add support for other languages, but we will add them by request only. So, if you would like to see a certain language supported, let us know.

Words and Meaning

We do not speak most of these languages, and we will not be able to help you figure out what all these words mean. You will have to use an online or DTE dictionary for that.
